Cyber Bunker
CyberBunker, an internet service provider operating out of former NATO bunkers in the Netherlands and Germany, has been a controversial figure in the realm of cyber operations. It gained notoriety for hosting services for any website, explicitly excluding child pornography and terrorism-related content. The company's initial operations in a Dutch bunker eventually expanded to another location in Traben-Trarbach, Germany. CyberBunker has hosted notable entities such as The Pirate Bay and WikiLeaks mirrors but has also faced accusations of hosting spammers, botnets, and being involved in large-scale DDoS attacks against organizations like Spamhaus.
In 2019, German police raided the Traben-Trarbach bunker, arresting seven suspects and shutting down the operation. The founder, along with others, was later convicted of forming a criminal organization. The story of CyberBunker has been documented in a Netflix documentary, shedding light on the intricacies of the operation and its eventual takedown.
