How to Download and Install WebStorm
Visit the Official Website
- Navigate to the official JetBrains website at https://www.jetbrains.com/webstorm/ (opens in a new tab).
Download the Installer
- Click on the "Download" button, usually located at the top right of the page.
- Choose the appropriate version for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
- The download should start automatically. Save the installer to a location on your computer.
Run the Installer
For Windows:
- Locate the downloaded .exe file, usually in your Downloads folder.
- Double-click the .exe file to start the installation process.
For macOS:
- Locate the downloaded .dmg file.
- Double-click the .dmg file to mount the installer.
- Drag the WebStorm icon to your Applications folder.
For Linux:
- Extract the downloaded .tar.gz file to a directory of your choice.
- Navigate to the bin directory inside the extracted folder.
- Run the
webstorm.shscript from the terminal.
Installation Wizard
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation. This may include selecting installation options, specifying an installation directory, and agreeing to the license agreement.
Initial Setup
- Once installed, launch WebStorm.
- If you have a previous configuration or settings from another JetBrains product, you can import them.
- Choose a UI theme that suits your preference (e.g., Light or Darcula).
- Install any additional plugins or configurations you need.
Activation
- WebStorm is a paid product, but it offers a 30-day free trial. To continue using it after the trial period, you'll need to purchase a license.
- If you already have a license key or a JetBrains account with a valid subscription, enter the details when prompted.
- Students and educators may be eligible for a free license, and there are discounts available for startups and non-commercial open-source projects.
